Requests for Absence In Term Time

Please note that all requests for absence in term time should be received in school a minimum of 3 weeks before the date your request applies to .  The school can only authorise such absences for 'exceptional' reasons e.g. an event that cannot happen in school holidays and may ask for evidence that this is the case. The school also has to take into account the child/children's attendance level(s) and any particular detriment that may arise from the specific dates you have requested, e.g. the start of a new school year or the fact your child is in year 6.  Only one application an academic year can be considered.

If the school does not authorise your request and you decide to proceed with your child's absence there is a risk that the Local Authority will take action against you. Devon County Council requires that we report all unauthorised absences of 5 days or more to them.

Please read the warning letter below so that you fully understand the implications of unauthorised absence before completing the S2 Form (also below) to request an absence for your child/children.
