Friday 17th April

Dear Class R parents and carers,

It's the final day of our first week 'back to school', after the Easter break. I have been blown away by the range of pictures and videos I have received this week. So many of the children have engaged with the activities we have set for them. Well done to all of you for giving them so much support and encouragement.

I have added a couple of larger things to do today so please do not feel you have to do everything that has been put on. I am simply trying to provide a range of things for you and your children to choose which works best for all of you. There is not an expectation to complete everything set.

I would like the children to have a go at using phonics play today.
Username: march20
Password: home
I would then like them to try 'Flashcards - Speed trial - Sets 2 and 3'
Followed by the 'Rocket rescue' game. Within this the children listen for a word and then try to segment the sounds together to create the word.
Please note that the website has been updated so it looks a little different than it previously did. However the games still function in the same way.

After this could they try the next section of their phonics book, pages 12 to 15. These pages focus on 'k' and the special friend 'ck'. As with previous work in these books I would like them to come up with words that contain these sounds. Hopefully the children will remember but may need reminding that we, mainly, see 'ck' at the end of words. It would be great if they could come up with some captions containing 'k/ck' and 'and'. For example 'The kitten and the kite', 'The King and his socks' etc.

For a Maths activity I have recorded and added a 'lesson' for the children to watch, where we look at times during the day and the things we may do at those times. I would like the children to make a 'timetrack' of the day with key times. It does not have to run from hour to hour but just pick a selection of ones e.g. 7:00 = get up, 9:00 = wake and shake, 11:00 = snack, 3:00 = walk with family etc. This timetrack could be drawn like the one I have done or they may choose to act out certain moments of the day for you to record or photograph. Please visit -  for the clock I use in the video.

I will be adding a challenge around lunchtime, however if you have not had time to do any of the other challenges from the week and want to do these then please fell free to do that today.

Please note that I am in school all next week, therefore it will be a bit trickier for me to keep up with emails etc. during the school day, however I will be doing my best to monitor and support online. Keep a look out for some of Mrs Wyman's challenges popping up throughout the week.

I would like to offer a huge thank you to Mrs Wyman for all her hard work this week in school. It has also been lovely to see so many of our wonderful teaching assistants adding comments to Tapestry throughout the week.

Kindest regards

Mr B
