Dear Class R parents and carers,

 

What a lovely week we have had. Everyone, whether at home or in school has worked extremely hard throughout and I have loved seeing everything that the children have been working on.

 

This morning I would like the children to begin by spending some time working on phonics play. Can they begin by playing 'Tricky Trucks and working through 'All phase 3 HFW'.
After this I would like the children to play the 'Reading Robot game (Phase 3) on phonics play' - Real and pseudo words. This game helps the children to work on their blending and also work out real and nonsense words.

 

Once they have done this I would like the children to unleash their creative side. This week they have spent a lot of time looking at under the sea creatures and their characteristics. I would therefore like the children to come up with their own under the sea creature. Does it have fins, legs or both? Does it have big or small teeth? What colour is it? How big is it? does it eat other fish or does it eat vegetation?
I would like them to be as creative as possible with this. They may decide to draw, paint or construct their creature.
I can't wait to see what they come up with.

 

After this I would like the children to watch the attached video of making and navigating a maze. They can design and create their maze in any way they like but it will need some obstacles and a start and finish. They can make a large scale one if they like or they may prefer to make one that they have to guide a toy through. They then need to try to direct someone through it or be directed themselves. They need to be thinking about the directions 'left', 'right', 'forwards' and 'backwards'. I am looking forward to seeing how they get on with this.

 

I will be setting a challenge around lunchtime so please look out for that.
