Thursday 16th April
Dear Class R parents and carers,
It has been wonderful to see all the amazing things you have been doing with children so far this week. You are all doing so many incredible things with your children and giving them so many fantastic opportunities.
Everyone has been so busy and I have loved seeing all the things added to Tapestry over the past two days.
Later today I will be uploading a video with actions for our story this week 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Once it is added I would like the children to watch it and then see if they can join in with the actions too.
In the meantime I would like the children to work on their Number work book, pages 12 to 15. The first page focuses on addition and the remaining pages focus on subtraction. We have worked on subtraction in class but the children will need support to check that they are subtracting. If you can use the vocabulary of subtraction, minus and take away.
I have added a story 'What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?' If the children can listen to the story once through. Then go back through the story, listening out for the different times mentioned in the book. After this I would like the children to look at https://www.topmarks.co.uk/time/teaching-clock
Chat through with your child that the big hand points to the top to tell us that it is an o’clock time, the little hand points to the hour number. Children click + 1 hour to move the big hand all the way round to next o’clock time. Explain that this is what the big hand does and an hour is quite a long time! Point out how little hand moves as big hand moves round clock once.
After this please follow the link: https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/116/telling-the-time Select option 1 - Read time to the hour I would like the children to then have a go at this game.
Another activity I would like the children to try today is creating their own insect using materials they find around the house or outside. They may choose colourful clothing, leaves and flowers, toys etc. The more creative the better 😊
I will be uploading a challenge around lunchtime today so please keep your eyes peeled for that.
I am working from home again today so please do get in touch if you need anything.
