Thursday 23rd April

Dear Class R parents and carers,

Today looks as though it is going to be an extremely hot and sunny day. What a great opportunity to spend some time outside. I was very impressed to see so many of you taking the opportunity to do some outdoor learning over the past few days and enjoying the weather.

Yesterday there were quite a few things set for you to do and I was so impressed with all the work I saw throughout the day.
I am not going to set quite as much today, as I want to give the children the opportunity to work on their stories. Also Mrs Wyman has set several challenges this week so if you haven't had the opportunity to create your own obstacle course, marble maze or sorting healthy and unhealthy food; today would be a great opportunity to do so. Mrs Wyman will also be adding another challenge around lunch time today.

If your child has already completed their story then I would like them to work on pages 20 to 23 of their phonics workbook. These pages focus on 'u' and the use of 'tricky words (Red Words) 'to' and 'the'. If they can work on these pages and then come up with some words using 'u', 'qu' and 'ou' (shout it out). I would like the children to then use some of their words in a sentence using the red words 'to' or 'the'. If they are able to use some of the Red words from their home learning pack and see what sentences they can come up with. For example "I went out to the park and saw the queen."
Don't forget your finger spaces and full stops in your writing.

Another activity the children could try today is, following on from our work on counting in 10's to 100, I would like the children to come up with their own song and accompanying dance to count up to 100. If they would like to dress up for this and add a range of actions to their 'number workout' that would be fantastic. The more creative the better. Please see attached video for ideas.

On top of this I would like the children to use things they find around the house, garden or both, to create their own Mini-Beast Habitat. Please see the attached photos for ideas.

It is also St. George’s Day today so if you can use materials around the house to create your own flag of St. George I would love to see your pictures!

Please do email me or message on Tapestry if you have any questions.

Kindest regards

Mr B
