Thursday 7th May
Dear Class R parents and carers,
Thank you so much for all of your responses to the work and challenges that were set yesterday. I have been delighted with the response to the work on capacity and the two stories we have looked at this week. I have loved all the firefly pictures I have seen throughout the week, they have been amazing!
Today I would like the children to continue working on yesterdays story 'From Head to Toe'. For today's activity I would like the children to come up with their own pages to add to the story. Can they select a different animal and accompanying action for them to try. I would like them to create a minimum of 2 pages which include a drawing and writing on each page. Again they can either use paper, card, whiteboard or mini-mash etc. to do this.
After this I would like the children to create their own mini workout including some of the actions from the book, as well as their own. Can they act this out on camera and even add music to it? Please see the attached video for ideas.
Once the children have done this I would like them to try out the attached sheet on capacity. Please do not worry about printing this out, as I know not everyone has a computer. It is ok for your child to simply go through it and answer the questions by talking through it.
There is also a powerpoint activity for the children to work on, which is attached. Some of the questions have to do with measuring in ml. In order to support this you may find it useful to show them a measuring jug to for the children to get an idea of measurements in ml units. However I wouldn't get them to measure out 20 litres of water ! 😀
The children have done a lot of work on writing and recognising their sounds this week and I don't want to bombard them with more. However I would like them to spend some time reading this morning. I have therefore attached the individual pages of our story 'From Head to Toe". I would like them to try reading this book to you today.
The final activity I would like the children to try today is to create their own animal from the book using whatever resources they would like too. We had some amazing firefly's earlier in the week and I would love to see a life size gorilla or buffalo 😊
I will be adding a challenge around lunchtime so please do look out for that.
Love Mr B
