Tuesday 19th May

Dear Class R parents and carers,

Thank you for all the wonderful work that was shared with us yesterday. It was amazing to see how much the children enjoyed completing their Monkey Puzzle, Missing Monkey posters.

Today we will be continuing to work on our selected story. For the activity this morning I would like the children to have a go at acting out the story with actions for the different animals they find along the way.

Once they have done this I would like the children to add another animal into the story. For example the butterfly and the baby monkey meet a giraffe. They would need to think about the giraffes characteristics e.g. "No my mummy does not have a big long neck. She doesn't eat leaves from the tallest trees. This is quite a tricky concept for the children to try but I would like them to have a go and see what they can come up with. They can either draw and write this out on paper or on mini - mash - 2create a story or alternatively they may like to record an explanation.

After this I would like them to watch the attached video on repeating patterns, using our bodies to help with this. I would then like them to come up with their own repeating pattern, using parts of their body.

I have attached pages 2 and 3 of the maths books, for the children to have a go at. These questions focus on addition and subtraction sums in a variety of ways. Again please do not print out the pages and instead look to write out the answers on a blank piece of paper or on mini-mash - 2create a story. I understand that it is not an ideal way of completing these activities but I do not want people to have to worry about accessing a printer etc.

We will be setting a challenge around lunchtime today. However in the meantime if you did not get a chance to complete yesterdays challenge I would love to see your monkey creations today!

Love from Mr B
