Tuesday 2nd June
Dear Class R parents and carers,
It was lovely to see that so many of the children really enjoyed the story 'Mister Seahorse' yesterday and also to see so many super pictures and writing about the different under the sea creatures from the story.
Today we will be continuing our work on 2d and 3d shapes as well as 'Mister Seahorse'.
This morning I would like the children to go through the story again and specifically focus on the fish that are camouflaged. This book uses 'magical see through pages' and I would like the children to see if they can make their own using things at home. I would like them to try to camouflage their picture from yesterday or alternatively create a new picture and then add a camouflage layer on top. They may choose cling film, plastic packaging, punched pockets (used in folders) etc. They need to be able to decorate it and then remove it from their picture, like in the story. I have attached some pictures from the book to show an example.
After this I would like the children to watch the following BBC Bitesize clip - 'Animals that live in the sea' https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zx676sg Once they have watched the video I would like them to then work through the powerpoint 'Under the Sea - What can you see?' After they have done both of these I would like the children to pick one of the animals from either the video or the powerpoint and write down 3 facts they have learnt about them.
Following this I would like the children to work through the powerpoint 'Can you find the 3d shape'. There are quite a few tricky shapes to consider within this powerpoint so the children will need help when working through this. I am not expecting them to know all of these but it is a good opportunity for the children have a discussion regarding 3d shapes.
I will be adding a challenge around lunchtime today so please look out for that.
Love Mr B
