Tuesday 7th July

Dear Class R parents and carers,

We had a super day both in school and at home yesterday. I was very pleased with the work that was sent into school, via Tapestry, and saw so many of the children engaging with our latest story.

Hopefully you have had the opportunity to watch Miss Wilkinson's Transition video. Ms Osman will be reading and recording her story in the next few days and as soon as I receive this I will put it up on Tapestry.

I would like to offer a big thank you to those of you who have replied with your Transition booklet (which I posted on Tapestry on Sunday) This will be extremely useful to hand on to Ms Osman, when Mrs Wyman and I meet her on Wednesday. If you have yet to complete this with your child please do try to get this done as it will really help with Transition.

This morning I would like the children to begin the day by looking through the attached document - History of Transport Timeline. Could they then follow this up by looking through the powerpoint about the Wright Brother's. After going through the powerpoint I would like the children to write down some of the facts they remember. They can either write this as a list on its own or they may prefer to add a picture too.

Following this I would like the children to consider our story 'You can't take an Elephant on the bus'. Yesterday the children chose a vehicle from the existing story and added their own animal choice. Today I would like the children to come up with their own animal and a different type of transport. Can they try to make their sentence rhyme and also as silly as possible 😋

I would then like the children to try out the set 2do's - 'Matching words and numerals' and 'Numbers 0 to 10 in words'.

Following this I would the children to watch the attached video 'While We Can't Hug'. I thought this story was quite a nice way of looking at the ongoing situation. I would like the children to then think about another way that we can show a friend we care about them? Can they draw a picture of their idea.

Mrs Benney will be adding a challenge later so please do look out for that.

Kindest regards

Mr B
