Wednesday 17th June
Dear Class R parents and carers,
I hope you are all having a good week so far and have been enjoying the surprisingly sunny weather, despite the forecast over the past few days.
Thank you again to all those who have been providing such wonderful updates on the work your children are completing at home. Also a big well done to all those children who have returned to school over the past 2 weeks. I am pleased to report that despite things looking quite a bit different within school and all our friends not being back with us the children have been doing extremely well with settling back into a routine of school.
For those children at home I would like to let you know that we have been showing the children in school some of the things you have been getting up to during the day and they have all really enjoyed seeing what you are doing at home.
First of all I would like the children to watch the attached video of set 2 red words. The format of this activity is the same as we have done previously.
Today we will also be continuing to look at the story of 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch'.
Therefore could the children try the following activity? - 'Mr Grinling has a very busy day. Can you write down one thing he does in the morning, one thing he does during the day and one thing he does at night-time' Don't forget your finger spaces and letter formation.
After this I would like the children to have a try at creating their own story map, like the attached one. Can they draw a picture or write about specific moments they remember from the story? They need to make sure that they order the moments correctly, based on when they happen in the story. They do not need to recreate every page of the story but rather carefully pick certain moments they remember.
Following this I would like the children to go through the attached powerpoint 'All about Lighthouses' and discuss with you what they find out and remember from the powerpoint.
After this I would like the children to have a go at the 2do I have set for them 'Number Chart Patterns'. Please note that this activity uses a 100 grid, however the one on the game is quite small so I would recommend using their 100 grid from their home learning pack.
I have also added a story 'It's ok to be different'. This follows on from our work last week on difference. I will not be asking the children to do a follow up activity to this and I simply would like them to watch the video.
Please note that Mrs Benney will be adding a challenge later in the morning so please look out for that.
