Wednesday 29th April
Dear Class R parents and carers,
Oh dear the weather has turned. Not so great for warm outdoor play. However it can still be fun, so where possible get your children to trade their flip flops for wellies and do a bit of outdoor exploring in the rain. I found the wet weather particularly useful for spotting some mini beasts and spider webs yesterday morning.
Thank you for all the work I received yesterday. I was extremely impressed with the pictures and descriptive writing. Many of the children chose some very exciting words to use!
Today we are going to continue with our focus on spiders and I would like the children to go through the attached powerpoint. They will need support to read this one as there are a few words in here they may struggle with.
Once they have done this I would like them to create their own one page fact sheet about spiders, using the information they have heard / read in the powerpoint. Please see the attached picture for an example of a fact sheet. They may choose to draw and write on paper, use Mini - Mash or even make their own video report.
After this I would like them to watch the attached video 'My First Ramadan' and the video I added yesterday 'Ramadan and Id - ul - Fitr (If they have not already seen it)
After this could they then try to create their own Ramadan 'new moon mobile'. Please do not worry if you do not have paper plates etc as they could simply choose to draw a picture on paper or on mini-mash.
Please see the attached pictures for ideas on how to do this.
Whilst doing this you could ask them what they remember about what they heard about Ramadan. What can Muslim people not do during Ramadan? What do they do during Id - ul - Fitr? Where do they go to pray together?
I have also added several videos on recording addition and subtraction sums. If they can watch these and have a go at their own addition and subtraction sums using 7 items. If they finish these and want to do more please feel free to try 8, 9, etc.
There is a fair bit to be getting on with there so please do not worry if it carries on over several days.
