Computing Intent, Implementation and Impact

Computing

Intent – Nurture and Grow

  • Our intent is to nurture every child’s understanding of computing, enabling all pupils to achieve success through a carefully sequenced Purple Mash curriculum.
  • We aim to grow pupils’ confidence, creativity and independence, allowing them to thrive as curious and resilient learners in a digital world.
  • We are committed to ensuring all pupils belong, by providing inclusive and accessible computing lessons where every child feels valued, supported and able to participate.
  • Through Purple Mash, we nurture responsible digital citizens who understand how to use technology safely, respectfully and positively.

Implementation – How we Nurture and Grow Learners

  • Purple Mash is used to deliver a progressive, age-appropriate computing curriculum that builds knowledge and skills over time.
  • Teachers nurture learning through clear modelling, guided practice and supportive feedback, enabling pupils to grow in confidence and competence.
  • Tasks are carefully adapted to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every child can achieve while being challenged to deepen their understanding.
  • Collaborative projects and shared digital outcomes promote a sense of belonging, helping pupils grow socially as well as academically.
  • Online safety is woven throughout the curriculum, nurturing pupils’ understanding of how to thrive safely in digital environments.
  • Ongoing assessment and reflection ensure learning is supported, celebrated and built upon.

Impact – Pupils Who Have Been Nurtured and Grown

  • Pupils achieve well in computing, demonstrating secure knowledge and skills across coding, digital creativity and information technology.
  • Children thrive as confident users of technology who enjoy learning, persevere with challenges and take pride in their achievements.
  • Pupils feel a strong sense of belonging, working collaboratively and respectfully within digital and classroom communities.
  • Learners grow into responsible digital citizens who understand how to keep themselves and others safe online.
  • By the end of primary school, pupils are well-prepared for the next stage of learning, having been nurtured to grow academically, socially and emotionally.
